Iceland looks like another planet. Everything feels different, and the landscapes are breathtaking. The silence is also something else. I love the silence in Iceland. The majority of Icelanders believe in elves, and when you visit these sites, you understand why.
If you are a fan of alternative music as much as I am, it is even more special. BJORK, SIGUR ROS, SÓLEY, MÚM, music creativity here has a different pace. I believe it is a place that I will always want to visit. I couldn't imagine living there, though. The weather is too harsh, and the darkness during the winter is too depressing.

The best months to see the NORTHERN LIGHTS are from OCTOBER TILL MARCH. I was there in October 2016 and wasn't lucky to see them. Next time.
KEX HOSTEL
Where should you stay?
I stayed at KEX HOSTEL and I highly recommend it. It's the coolest hostel in Reykjavik, and it's famous because of the MUSIC SCENE, KEX RADIO and its small CONCERTS.
The place is beautiful and underground, with a vintage atmosphere and cool peeps.
Make your reservations in advance; it's normal to be all booked.
When you go to Iceland, it is recommended to choose guided tours to get to know Iceland's amazing natural sites.
There are plenty of options. I picked the GOLDEN CIRCLE FULL DAY TOUR and it was great.
It starts at ÞINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK, where the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930 AD. From there, we went to the stunning, and my favorite, WATERFALL GULLFOS. After the waterfall, we visited the geothermal area with the hot springs of GEYSIR and STROKKUR.
Another guided tour I took was to SKÓGAFOSS and SELJALANDSFOSS waterfalls, GLACIER LAGOON, and BLACK SAND BEACH. Black Sand Beach is probably the saddest beach on earth. It is very melancholic, windy, and beautiful. This tour was also magical.
HALLGRIMSKIRKJA
This Lutheran church is a well-known landmark in Reykjavik, a project by architect GUÐJÓN SAMÚELSSON. It is a nice place to visit when you are in the city center. Its architecture was based on the BASALTIC ORGANS, with more than 5,200 pipes. Its construction took 44 years (1945-1989).
LEBOWSKI BAR
Another nice place that is way more my vibe is the LEBOWSKI BAR, based on the COHEN BROTHERS movie THE BIG LEBOWSKI.
