How not to love CÔTE D' AZUR? Breathtaking landscapes, adorable villages, crystal-clear waters, and that charming Mediterranean atmosphere we love. It is definitely one of my favorite destinations.
If possible, it is good to have a car there; it helps to visit towns around you in an easier way, and it will optimize your days a lot. That's a big difference if you compare the French Riviera to the Amalfi Coast: in the Amalfi Coast, you can visit the other beaches by ferry; on the French Riviera, this is only possible if you have your boat lol
Antibes is a small Mediterranean town located between Cannes and Nice. It has inspired many artists, such as PICASSO, who lived there for a while, and MONET, who painted a series of the Antibes coastline.
In the CAP D'ANTIBES PENINSULA is also located JUAN-LES-PINS, famous for its bars, nightlife, and jazz festival.
OLD TOWN
The Old Town in Antibes is very charming, with numerous narrow streets (cars are not allowed) and centuries-old houses. It is worth it to wander there without any particular reason.
There is also LE MARCHE PROVENÇAL a grocery market with fresh fruits, vegetables, good coffee, and many types of cheese.
Near the old town, there is a small beach called PLAGE DE LA GRAVETTE that was my favorite. Blue ocean, white sand, a picturesque village, and medieval ramparts.
PICASSO MUSEUM
One of the reasons Antibes is known is because Picasso lived there for a while.
The castle CHÂTEAU GRIMALDI, built during the 14th century, became Picasso's home and studio for six months in 1946. In 1925, the place was turned into Picasso's Museum, the first museum dedicated to the artist. It has 245 works created by him.
Despite being famous for Picasso, Antibes was also frequented by other artists such as MONET, HENRI-EDMOND CROSS and RAYMOND PEYNET. Walking through the city, there are signs indicating the landscapes that were inspirations for their paintings.
PROMENADE AMIRAL DE GRASSE
There is also a large beach in Antibes with a promenade. It is a good place to swim with more space, and it also has many options for bars and restaurants around. The landscape is a bit more modern and not as charming as the old town, but it offers more comfort for a day at the beach.
