The second-largest city in Germany after Berlin, Hamburg lies on the RIVER ELBE and has the third-largest port in Europe. The weather is going to remind you of London: it is normally gray and very humid. I've had bad hair every day.
One cute thing about Hamburg is its BRICK ARCHITECTURE. For centuries, a large part of the city has had its constructions in this pattern, which makes the city landscape pretty red.
ST. PAULI AND THE BEATLES
The St. Pauli neighborhood is known around the world for the St. Pauli football club and the RED LIGHT DISTRICT REEPERBAHN, an area with nightclubs, bars, strip clubs, and brothels. It is very popular in the UNDERGROUND AND ROCK SCENE and also famous because of THE BEATLES.
During the 1960s, with its agitated nightlife, the Red-Light District attracted many bands. The Jets and the Beatles used to play at small bars in Reeperbahn, like Indra Bar, at the beginning of their careers before becoming famous. JOHN LENNON once said, “I was born in Liverpool, but I grew up in Hamburg”.
Visit INDRA BAR and the BEATLESPLATZ.
If you are a true-crime fan, in St. Pauli you will also find DER GOLDENE HANDSCHUH pub. This pub became famous because of a serial killer from Hamburg who used to go there in the 1970s. There is also a movie with the same name.  I definitely don't recommend the movie, but it's good to know the context.
HAMBURGER KUNSTHALLE MUSEUM
Located in three buildings near the ALTSTER RIVER, this museum is a must-see. It has a great collection of more than 700 artworks of European art from the Middle Ages to the present day, including artists such as ERNST LUDWIG KIRCHNER, EDVARD MUNCH and PAUL KLEE. It also presents contemporary artists as BRUCE NAUMAN, ROSEMARIE TROCKEL and SIGMAR POLKE. The outside area is also a great space to chill and watch people skate.
