In the DALMATIA REGION on the ADRIATIC COAST is Split, the second-largest city in Croatia.
With a mixture of beautiful, crystal-clear beaches and ancient constructions, Split is very charming. I stayed close to BAČVICE BEACH (pic above), the main beach in Split, and I recommend it not only because it is a great beach but also because you are nearby other important points.
Split's promenade has a good nightlife with many options for cocktail bars.
Try also the Dalmatian dishes to have a complete experience.
OLD TOWN
Split's ancient center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will find there DIOCLETIAN’S PALACE built in the 4th century AD for the Roman Emperor Diocletian (it was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones). Moreover, PERISTYLE SQUARE, TEMPER OF JUPITER and CATHEDRAL OF SAINT DOMNIUS have excellent view from the tower.
The old town of Split has tasty restaurants and cafés, narrow alleys with cute cats on the way, and is a nice trip back in time.
BEACHES
I've been to some really nice beaches in Split, although most were pebble beaches. The water was always crystal clear and very calm, like a swimming pool. My favorites were KASJUNI, BACVICE and FIRULE.
 KRKA NATIONAL PARK
I'm not usually a fan of group guided tours, but I was curious about this place. Krka National Park is known for its seven waterfalls. It is a day trip; you have to take a bus, then a boat, and you are finally there. I was there in September, and it was still crowded, so I wouldn't recommend it if you want to plan a visit during the high season. Anyway, it was worth it. The waterfalls are stunning and form a unique landscape. It looks like a fairy tale, and you can also swim.
