SAINT-TROPEZ is lovely and even more special because of our queen, BRIGITTE BARDOT.
Needless to say, the town got famous in the 1960s, attracting many international artists since then. Originally, a calm fishing village, Saint-Tropez became known for its parties and nightlife.
I have to say I was impressed by the number of giant yachts in the VIEUX PORT, port of Saint-Tropez. There are so many that you can barely see the houses and the landscape. Apart from that, the town and its streets are very charming with their pastel colors, flowers, and Mediterranean atmosphere. One of my favorite travel memories was swimming there on a very hot day after some cocktails.
LE CAFÉ
In the heart of the Old Town, this old café was a spot for painters and artists in the 17th and 18th centuries.
L’ANNONCIADE
The modern painting styles FAUVISM and POINTILISM started in Saint-Tropez. PAUL SIGNAC was inspired by the light of Saint-Tropez and invited his friends DERAIN, CROSS, MATISSE and MARQUET to join him there.
The museum L’ANNONCIADE, located in a 16th century chapel, has a collection focused on this period of modern art, with paintings from these artists and other works of POINTILISM, THE NABIS and FAUVISM.
