Compared to other cities on the French Riviera, Nice is huge, with a population of around 1 million. There are many options for hotels, restaurants, and places to visit, which makes it worth returning. It also has an airport, which makes planning easier. For its history and culture, UNESCO has proclaimed Nice a World Heritage Site.
Following the French Riviera tradition, Nice also attracted and inspired several artists, among them MATISSE and CHAGALL. Both artists have a museum in the city dedicated to them: the MUSÉE MATISSE and the MUSÉE MARC CHAGALL.
The PROMENADE DES ANGLAIS along the BAIE DES ANGES offers good beach bars with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea and calm waters to swim in.
The OLD TOWN of Nice is huge and normally very crowded. It's better to plan where you want to go before, so you don't get too tired.
VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER
If you look to the east from the PROMENADE DES ANGLAIS you will see VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER, a stunning bay that is really worth visiting. Its houses, streets, and natural harbor reminded me a lot of POSITANO in Italy. It is a dreamscape.
In Villefranche-sur-Mer THE ROLLING STONES recorded their album EXILE ON MAIN STREET in 1972.
Villefranche-sur-Mer has also been the setting for many films, such as TO CATCH A THIEF,  THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN, just to name a few. It is close to Monaco - 13 km.
